Health & Healing
To those who are worn down by the everyday chaos of life, what could possibly sound better than a rejuvenating day at the spa! The thought of soaking in a warm bath of your favorite scents, surrounded by ambient lighting and relaxing music, seems to be the perfect atmosphere for unwinding.

Experience
So why is this necessary mind-body healing an unimaginable luxury for many of us? Maybe you are too busy to spend a day at the spa, or don't think it is a worthwhile expense. But what could be more worthwhile than a refreshing retreat to recharge your batteries?

Rejuvenate
Mind-body rejuvenation is the first step to taking control of your busy life. Imagine how much easier it would be to make it through the work day, knowing that such an experience is waiting for you when you get home. One of the latest and most practical trends is turning ordinary bathrooms into spa-like retreats with all of your favorite amenities. In this way, bathing can be celebrated and cherished as a break from the hustle and bustle of our fast-paced lives.

Soothe
There are many ways to turn your bathroom into a soothing, beautiful and highly functional, recuperative area. Separating the bathtub from the shower can make a dramatic difference, and adding body spray jets can make showering an even more soothing experience. Other ways to create your in-home getaway include adding a sauna, heated floors, exercise studio, gas fireplace, juice and coffee bars, under counter refrigerators and warming drawers for robes and towels, or audio and video systems.

Awaken
In master bathrooms, making a separate room for the toilet and having dual sinks on opposite sides of the bathroom can create a more private, comfortable atmosphere. And if that isn't enough, remodeling a master bathroom gives one of the highest returns on investment upon resale!

MELT salon and spa

In April of last year, Melanie Tringali opened the Newbury Street doors to MELT, a refreshing addition to Boston's crowded industry of salon and day spas. A former interior designer with a love for the spa experience, Melanie married her two passions in MELT, a unique and exciting spot for luxury and relaxation. MELT offers a home to all those seeking a break from Boston's fast-paced environment with its full service menu of facials, including its exclusive HydraFacial, recently featured in InStyle magazine, massage, waxing, nails, hair and makeup. Not only does this respite cater to individuals, it is also available on an as-requested-basis exclusively to prom, bachelorette and special occasion parties. MELT lavishes high class luxury and leisure on all of its clientele, offering robes that are not only plush, but satin. Gone are the days when a cup of coffee or a glass of water with lemon would impress…at MELT, where over-the-top indulgence is the theme of the day, expect Italian espresso or champagne with strawberries.

Now, while amenities at a salon and day spa may be enough to make a good initial impression, the services are what keep people coming back.
Complete with a staff that would make any New York City spa and salon blush, MELT is honored to be the home of Master Colorist and Stylist Yasmin Tricomi Kfoury. Kfoury came to Boston by way of New York City's bustling salon industry. From the infamous Tricomi namesake, Yasmin traded Manhattan's fast-paced environment for an opportunity to create more intimate and personal relationships with her clientele at MELT. The spa's atmosphere of cozy intimacy is one that is not only conducive to, but is reliant upon that interpersonal, client/staff relationship.

When you enter MELT, you feel as though you have been welcomed into a friend's chic Back Bay apartment. An oversized armoire sits at the entrance to the spa to capture coats and bags, leaving the space uncluttered by personal items.

Transported from Tringali's own home, French country antiques pepper the main lounge, salon and nail stations. The soft glow from lamps on side tables throughout the space spills onto warm hardwood floors covered by colorful Persian area rugs, marking a stark contrast to the cold marble found in other spas. Gem-colored pillowcases dot the banquette where pedicures are enjoyed and the fresh flowers are impressive in their abundance. Each of MELT's three treatment rooms features a bed covered in satin sheets. This may seem like a superfluous feature, but, aside from the obvious luxurious comfort associated with sleeping on satin, many beauty experts extol the great values of sleeping on a satin surface, from decreasing hair damage and reducing “sleep lines”, to helping to maintain moisture balance in the hair and skin.

MELT's ambiance is one that is easily replicated in the home environment.
Create your own personal sanctuary by designating one spot in your home as a “stress free zone.” Find unique small furniture pieces that speak to you with which to decorate the space. Compliment them with soft lighting and calming fabric patterns. Above all, make the space warm and make it personal; this should be your space to retreat to on a hectic day. And when heading to bed, take a cue from Melanie and invest in a satin pillowcase…the benefits you see will amaze you! http://store.meltboston.com/satinserenitysatinpillowcase-dark.aspx

If you feel you've experienced all that spas have to offer, we suggest you take an afternoon to experience MELT. Allow Melanie Tringali and staff to welcome you into what is their home away from home and discover the beauty of taking time to nourish mind, body, and spirit, allowing you to let your troubles MELT away.

Entertaining Kitchen - Client Design Statement

Our client and her family live extremely fast-paced lifestyles, where most every minute of each day is filled with work and other obligations. The family entertains frequently, and typically hosts gatherings of twenty-five people or more. Given the amount of guests that attend each gathering, we have been presented with the challenge of creating the illusion of greater space, while preserving the original footprint of the kitchen.

While specifying a high degree of functionality and versatility for their new kitchen, our clients require increased food preservation and cooking instruments to simplify meal preparation. Prep areas, as well as customized storage, and an entertainment center, are emphasized as well.

Equally important is our client's desire for a space that is both inspiring and welcoming; they would like to make every meal something truly special for themselves and for their friends and family. Although our client's design aesthetic is apparent, she finds that she does not have the time to coordinate the selection of merchandise necessary to design her dream kitchen. In the end our clients' kitchen was selected as a competition winner in a national kitchen design contest.

1. Kitchen Appears Larger

Although PSV Design Group increased our clients' storage capacity by 30% and installed twelve appliances, the kitchen appears larger with the redesign of the cook top wall and new wrap-around peninsula. A dramatic increase of ambient, task and accent lighting lends to this inviting space.

2. Greater Functionality & Versatility
Numerous work stations, including a fresh fruit & vegetable preparation area, a small appliance work station, cooking and baking centers, coffee & beverage stations, sandwich prep and a cleanup center (to name a few), offer easy access and efficient use of available space. Increased storage for fresh foods, dry goods, pots and pans and utensils enhance our clients' lifestyle.

3. High Quality Food Preservation & Cooking Instruments
PSV increased food preservation and cooking instruments by 75%. In addition to the appliances discussed above, the kitchen designed to accommodate large gatherings is well served with the inclusion of a built-in 48” side-by-side refrigerator and an under counter icemaker, both by Sub Zero. The plan also includes a Wolf European style frameless double oven and warming drawer. Other appliances include speed an oven/microwave combination unit, built in coffee system, coffee cup warming drawer, an entertainment system and Asko dishwasher.

In the existing kitchen, too many components were installed on this wall, making meal preparation difficult. With the new floor plan PSV employed a minimalist approach. We achieved soothing symmetry through the artful blend of wall cabinetry, stainless steel and natural stone.

First, the natural stone tile installed at the sink and cook top walls runs from countertop to ceiling, creating the illusion of greater height and width. The clean lines of the tile are reminiscent of the soothing, subtle colors often found in nature. The tile installed below the Best by Broan Hood, adds interest and becomes the subtle focal point of the wall.

We reduced the amount of wall cabinetry used while increasing the cabinetry height. The desired look was complete with the incorporation of the 48” Wolf cook top and Sub Zero under counter refrigeration drawers hidden behind custom wood panels.

The elegant styling and finish of the cabinetry incorporate a modern sensibility that inspires harmony when paired with the gleaming stainless steel appliances and accents. The warm golden hue of the cabinet doors and drawers embodies a richness of color that is welcoming and encourages sociability.

5. An Enduring Investment
Our client has selected materials, appliances and products that are made of fine materials and are extremely well crafted. They have created a practical kitchen that caters to their needs and, in the end, the simplicity of design makes life far more enjoyable for this family. Our clients believe that their well planned and executed kitchen remodeling will be an enduring investment in their home. The end result: A combination of elegance of form and simplicity of line in PSV's National Award Winning Kitchen.
